10th Light Horse Regiment

10th Light Horse Regiment (10 LH) is a light cavalry regiment in the Australian Army, comprising of a single squadron; ‘A’ Squadron.

Tracing its lineage back to 1900, it predecessor units served during the Second Boer War and the First World War. 

Today the unit consists of only a single squadron, A Squadron. It is a Reserve unit, and is part of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps. 

The Squadron is attached to 13 Brigade and is based at Irwin Barracks in Western Australia, where it operates Bushmaster protected mobility vehicles in support of the reinforcing battlegroup, as well as providing cavalry scouts in support of partner units and 3 Brigade, in order to conduct light cavalry and reconnaissance tasks.

The squadron has deployed members to the Solomon Island's, Timor Leste and Afghanistan. It has also supported regional operations including OP Resolute and OP Amulet. 

The motto of 10th Light Horse is ‘Percute et Percute Velociter’, which is Latin for ‘Strike and Strike Swiftly’.
