6th Brigade

In an increasingly complex and congested battlespace, the skilful application of joint intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, electronic warfare, force engineering, military policing and air land effects is essential in creating decision superiority for the Commander. The 6th Brigade generates Army’s theatre level capabilities to deliver these effects as part of the Joint Task Force.

The role of 6 Bde is to provide Combat Support to land based forces in joint, combined and interagency operations. The brigade was re-raised on 1st March 2010 and is made up of specialist intelligence, artillery, engineer and signals capabilities. Headquarters 6th Brigade is located in Sydney and its units are geographically dispersed across Australia. 

The 6th Brigade currently consists of the following units: 

  • 1st Intelligence Battalion
  • 1st Military Police Battalion
  • 6th Engineer Support Regiment
  • 7th Signal Regiment
  • 16th Air Land Regiment
  • 19th Chief Engineer Works 
  • 20th Surveillance and Target Acquisition Regiment
