The Abrams has the firepower, mobility and survivability to provide the key component in the combined arms team. The Army's operational tank unit, the 1st Armoured Regiment is equipped with the Abrams. Vehicles for training purposes are also held by the School of Armour in Puckapunyal, and the Army Logistic Training Centre at Bandiana.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) provide Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) support for land force operations. The Australian Army currently operates the RQ-7B Shadow 200 in this role.
Antipersonnel Weapon M18A1 Claymore is a command-detonated, fixed-direction, fragmentation weapon designed primarily for use against personnel. The fragments also effectively penetrate soft-skinned vehicles.
