On the Move
Private Janine Andrew is an Army Reservist with the Royal Australian Corps of Transport. She taking part in Exercise Hamel for the first time as part of the Joint Movements Control Office (JMCO) from Melbourne.
"JMCO personnel play an important role in coordinating the movements of Defence personnel and equipment on operations and exercises within Australia and overseas," said Private Andrew.
"I'm here on exercise Hamel supporting the huge machine that is facilitating the unload of HMAS Adelaide."
Private Andrew enlisted in 2014 and has previously taken part in Exercise Talisman Sabre. On Exercise Hamel, her aim is to broaden her professional experience and challenge herself as a member of the Army Reserve.
"I really want to be a valuable contributor to my own unit. By coming here and getting all this exposure to different environments I'm hoping I'm able to do that and return to my unit with more to offer," she said.
"My Army Reserve role is very different to my day job. I'm relatively new to the Army and I enjoys the challenge of the Army Reserves."
In her civilian life, Private Andrew works in a toy shop in Ashburton, Victoria and is a proud mum to two boys. She's looking forward to seeing her family at the end of the exercise.
"I'm here for seven weeks so I'm looking forward to seeing my beautiful little boys," she said.
"I'm also very eager and excited to be here. I'm learning something new everyday. I am looking forward to taking these learnings home with me to my Melbourne office and put into practice."
